What is Cheek Fat Removal?
Do you feel as though your lower face is a little full? Have you ever wanted a slimmer contour to your cheek area? You’re not alone! Facial contouring has been on the rise recently as many patients cannot attain the look they desire by diet and exercise alone. If you’re looking for a minimally invasive approach to achieving a slender look, the buccal fat pad removal procedure may be a great option for you. The goal of buccal fat removal is to thin the face, specifically in the area of the cheek hollows or lower third of the face. Although a face that is naturally soft and filled out is considered youthful, some people find that their face feels too full, even chubby. Dallas, TX plastic surgeon Dr. Phillip Dauwe is pleased to offer this procedure to accentuate the cheekbones and create a more sculpted appearance. Call Phillip Dauwe, M.D Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX to learn more.

Is Cheek Fat Removal Right for Me?
You are a great candidate for buccal fat pad removal surgery if you have full lower face and desire a slimmer cheek contour. If you are considering this procedure, we recommend setting up a consultation. During this time, Dr. Dauwe can examine your profile and discuss your cosmetic goals to see if this is the right procedure for you.
What is the Cheek Fat Removal Procedure Technique?
This procedure removes the buccal fat pad, a naturally-occurring section of fat in the cheek hollow area. The size of the buccal fat pad varies with each individual patient and is usually the size of a walnut. Buccal fat pad removal is an in-office procedure. The removal process consists of Dr. Dauwe making a tiny incision inside the mouth. There are no cuts on the outside of the face. Sutures will be placed and you will be discharged with post-care instructions along with a few prescriptions. Please expect to be in the office for 1 – 1 ½ hours.
What to Expect for Cheek Fat Removal
Our office will provide you with specific aftercare instructions and prescription pain medication, if requested. Typically, over-the-counter painkillers are sufficient. With the minimally invasive nature of the procedure, most patients do not experience extreme discomfort. You can expect to experience some swelling, but this is temporary. Your follow-up appointment will be scheduled for two weeks after your initial procedure with an additional appointment six weeks later. It is very important to keep these appointments for the best results.
